When is the best time to photograph my child in the first year?
The first year of life is by far the quickest in both physical and emotional development. This means the photos throughout this first year need to be regular to capture the changes. Once this time has passed you won’t be able to get it back.
Don’t you want a permanent reminder of this fleeting time that can always be remembered and passed down to generations? The very minimum you should photograph your child is at 3 stages throughout their first year; newborn photography and baby photos at 6 months and 1 year.
Newborn photography is best done within the first 2 weeks of age a maximum of 4 weeks of age. At 6 months baby photos generally include them sitting up and then at one year sometimes they are walking but if not sitting photos will work just as well. At one year they have more facial expressions and personality so it is great to capture this change in them. Better yet you can photograph your child every 3 months. Newborn photos (up to 2 weeks of age), 3 months when your baby can generally lay on their stomach and sometimes roll, 6 months when they are generally sitting up, 9 months when they are generally crawling and 1 year when they have formed their own little personality which can shine through the kids photos. Remember memories fade…..but photographs last a lifetime!
