It was January 21st 2017 and Rachel and Jack were getting married at Rachel’s parent’s house in Emerald. Such a stunning place situated on the top of the hill – perfect for wedding photography. Picturesque, tranquil and absolutely divine, made wedding photography with this beautiful couple creative and fun. Forget reception venues….this place had everything and more. Rachel told me that several of their friends had been married at her family home and it wasn’t hard to see why.
Many of my wedding photography couples have asked whether or not they should have a first look. A first look is when you have your wedding photography before the ceremony. Traditionally you won’t see each other until after the ceremony but in a first look you will see each other and do the wedding photography before all the formal proceedings instead of after. I know that they are a little untraditional but there are some benefits of first look wedding photography below.
Let’s face it, wedding photography is the absolute most important part of your wedding day. Long after the music has faded, the flowers have wilted and the dress has been worn, your wedding photos will be the one thing that lasts from your wedding. They provide constant happiness as a reminder of all the little details and emotions from your wedding day.
What is an unplugged wedding? An unplugged wedding is where you ask your guests to turn off their phones, cameras, tablets, and other mobile devices during your ceremony.

You've decided to get married but you are stuck! How can you hire a wedding photographer with all the fuss? Weddings can be extremely stressful. There is so much to plan and many things to consider. It is important that you enjoy the journey along the way, down to every last detail. I hope that these tips will help you to relax, enjoy the planning and ultimately enjoy your day. All things considered, a photographer is one of the most, if not the most important part of your planning for your day. After your wedding, the photos are all that remains of one of the most special moments in your life. That said, it is important that you hire the right photographer. How do I do that you ask? These points will help you in hiring the right photographer for you.
Getting married? Looking for a wedding celebrant? There is lots of choice so it can be a little hard to know who to go with. However there is one wedding celebrant I highly recommend. Not just because we work together on 50% of our weddings and we are a great team but also because of her wedding ceremonies and down to earth nature.
There are so many choices when it comes to wedding venues. The Dandenong Ranges boasts some of the most exquisite wedding venues in Victoria. My personal top 3 picks for wedding venues in the Dandenong Ranges are as follows: - Wedding Venue 1: Nathania Springs Receptions have both an indoor chapel and an outdoor garden gazebo. The gardens are lush and gorgeous with plenty of opportunities to capture gorgeous photos in the surrounding areas. This wedding venue can hold between 70-180 guests so has a great scope for any type of wedding. - Wedding Venue 2: Lyrebird Falls also has both an indoor chapel and a gorgeous outdoor gazebo. With a red carpet leading to the alter and surrounded by lush greenery….it doesn’t get much better than this. Wedding photos are stunning in any part of this wedding venue. The little bridge surrounded by ferns is the signature wedding photo for this wedding. Accommodating 70-115 guests to cater for most weddings. - Wedding Venue 3: Marybrooke Manor has perfectly manicured gardens with separate areas to take photos whether it be in front of the fountain, gates at night or by the famous oak tree, there are so many opportunities to capture the connections between you and your partner. Holding up to 100 guests, it is great for your average sized weddings.
You might have just become engaged or have been engaged for awhile. Regardless of how far you are into your wedding planning, you must plan an engagement photography session or your wedding might be a total disaster! Your wedding day is one of the most special days of your life. Understandably you want everything to be perfect! After all it is your one day…..you will never be able to get it back….. Your memories of your special day will fade….. All that is left are photos….. Therefore, your photos are the most important part of your wedding day! SO why risk getting cheap, mediocre photos?
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! No doubt you want your wedding photography to be perfect because at the end of the day, this is what you will have left of this special day in your life. So what wedding photos should you capture? It can be easy to forget in the business of the day. Your wedding photographer will give you guidance on what to capture, after all they are the professional. However at the very least you should be capturing these types of wedding photos:
